Demolition and groundworks: Excavation and Floor Slab – House R

House R begins with earthworks. Following the demolition of the existing building, the plot was excavated — the first step in defining the geometry of the new project in direct contact with the ground.

Once the subgrade was prepared and cleared, the reinforced concrete floor slab was cast, serving as the base for the CLT timber structure. Precision at this stage is critical: dimensional tolerances here directly determine the correct assembly of the prefabricated panels arriving on site in the coming weeks. A carefully executed foundation is, in projects like this, the base upon which everything else rests.
