Facade, Drywalls, Roof and Stairs – House R

With the structure standing, House R moves towards its exterior and interior definition. The ETICS facade system (External Thermal Insulation Composite System) wraps the building, improving its energy performance and shaping the final finish of the outer skin. At the same time, interior drylining works begin to define the spatial quality of each room.

The roof, resolved as a pitched plane with roof tiles and anthracite-coloured sheet metal trims, completes the building envelope and consolidates the image of the house against the horizon of the Rhine.

The interior staircase, the connecting element between floors, also begins to take shape at this stage — linking the ground floor, more introverted and oriented towards the garden, with the main living spaces on the upper level, open to the river views. It is built using the definitive substructure, though fitted with temporary construction steps during the works. The final treads will be installed at the end of the process, once interior finishes are complete, avoiding any damage during the construction phase.
